4th of July is here! Therefore, that means it’s time for BBQs, fireworks, and summer fun in the sun. I wanted to share this fun and flirty 4th of July-inspired makeup look.
4th of July Makeup Tutorial
I started by applying my face foundation. Since I have oily skin, I always make sure to use a primer to help control the oil and allow my makeup to last longer.
For my primer, I used Milani Prime Shield.
Then, I followed this up with L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation in the shade Creme Cafe. Next, it was time for the eyes!
First, to make sure I had a crisp and straight line for my eyeliner, I applied tape along the bottom corner of my eye, angling it toward my eyebrow.
A quick tip is to put the tape on the back of your hand and rub it first, before applying near your eye. This helps make the tape less sticky so it doesn’t remove as much makeup. In addition, it’s not as harsh on the skin around your eye when trying to remove the tape later.
Next, using a small angled eyeliner brush I started to apply the white eyeliner pencil. I used the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to serve as a base for the eyeshadow I applied later.
I rubbed the brush along the eyeliner pencil and began to draw a thin line along my lash line, following through to line draw a line against the piece of tape. Feel free to make the line as long as you’d like.
Quick tip: If you have hooded eyelids like me, where you have a layer of skin that droops over your eye crease, you want to make sure you make the line very thin. I made the mistake of making my line too thick, so when I completed the look, the eyeliner started rubbing off at the eye crease.
After that, to set the eyeliner and make sure it lasts longer without creasing, I applied a matte white eyeshadow directly on top of the line I drew. I used the white eyeshadow from a BH Cosmetics eyeshadow palette.
I wanted a little extra shimmer for my look, so I added a glittery white shadow on top of the eyeliner and eyeshadow I had already applied. Then, I applied the Bella Pierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Exite.
Once I was done, I removed the tape and revealed shimmery and perfectly straight lines! This was the first time I ever tried this method so I was very excited about the results.
Once finished with the white, it’s on to blue! I decided to make this look pop by applying blue eyeliner to my bottom lash line. For this, I used the Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil in Côte D’azur. I also smudged out the look with a brush.
Now that the white and blue is done, it’s on to red and the final touches.
Finishing The Look
I completed the look with my usual face routine. I used the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara, Maybelline Define a Brow Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brown, MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in C7, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Deep, e.l.f. Cosmetics Blush Palette in Dark, and Ofra Cosmetics Highlighter in Bliss.
I finished the look off with a pop of red on the lips. Next, I used the ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Silhouette.
I love the final look! So fun and a great way to incorporate red, white, and blue for a festive look.
