Summer is in full effect! One thing I have been loving this summer is trying out new hairstyles for my curly hair. Since it’s hot, I love rocking my naturally curly hair in wash and go’s and I also like to have my hair out my face. So, I decided to share 5 curly hairstyles I’ve been rocking this summer.
Curly Hairstyles Look 1 – Bandana-rama
This first look is the easiest to achieve. Simply wear your favorite bandana/scarf as a headband. I love how fun this look is and you can always switch it up with different patterns and colors for the bandana. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I rocked this look for the 4th of July festivities.
Curly Hairstyles Look 2 – Twisted Halo Crown
I love this halo crown look achieved by creating a flat twist across the top of my head, from ear to ear. It’s one of my favorite looks that I think instantly makes you look pulled together.
Here’s a close up of the twist. This is definitely a trickier look, sometimes it takes me multiple tries where I have to restart everything just to get the look right. My hair is layered at different lengths, which adds to the challenge.
Need a video tutorial on achieving a flat twist? Check out this tutorial from Samirah Gilli. Instead of twisting the entire section, just twist from one side until you get to the other side by your ear. Secure the hair with a bobby pin, and let the rest of the hair hang free. Also, instead of twisting the rest of the hair up, just let the back section of curly hair be free.
Curly Hairstyles Look 3 – Rock n’ Rolls
I was watching the movie Beyond The Lights and fell in love with a look the lead actress was rocking in one of the final scenes of the movie. I was inspired to rock my own version of the look and came up with this sectioned rolled twists look.
This is a great look to get your hair out of your face but still looks fun!
Curly Hairstyles Look 4 – Minnie Mouse Buns
I’ve seen this look trending a lot on Instagram and think it’s a great look to rock this summer.
Curly Hairstyles Look 5 – Top Knot Half Up Style
This is another look I’ve seen a lot of curly girls rocking on Instagram. It’s simple and easy. Just a half up look with a top knot bun. It can be as messy or as polished as you’d like.
How do you rock your hair during the summer? Which of these looks is your favorite?
