Finally, it was the big day!
The day of the Grammy Awards finally arrived!
We started the day with meeting up with one of my best friends from high school and her fiance for brunch.
We visited Flake in Venice, CA which was very close to the beach and the place we were staying. I got the Crossain-wich Jones, a buttery, flaky croissant sandwich with eggs, bacon, and cheddar cheese.
After brunch, it was time to get ready. I did my own hair and make-up for the event and went for soft curls in a half updo and a smoky eye make-up look. I also used one of my favorite lipstick colors at this moment, Diva by MAC.
Of course we had to have a mini photoshoot in the apartment before we left!
I am so in love with this dress! The dress is from Xscape and I found it at Macy’s. Lace is one of my absolute favorite materials, it’s just so classy and sexy at the same time, so as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I also love dresses with intricate back details so I was all for this dress.
The boyfriend looked very dapper 😉
Off to the show!
The Grammy’s were held at the Staples Center in Downtown LA.
We ended up getting to the awards show a little late so we missed the opening act, but we arrived in time to hear Ariana Grande’s powerful and beautiful voice. We had some pretty decent seats that were on the higher level but were directly in front of the stage.
We weren’t sure if we could bring our camera into the venue and didn’t want to risk it so unfortunately I don’t have photos of any of the performances.
Some of my favorite performances were Pharrell’s performance of Happy, Sia’s performance of Chandelier, Annie Lennox’s performance of I Put A Spell On You, and the Selma tribute with John Legend, Common, and Beyonce. I also thought the Kanye moment was hilarious, mostly because I thought he was joking at the time.
Did you catch the show? What was your favorite performance?
My favorite part of attending the show is entering and leaving the venue so that I’m able to see what everyone else is wearing. Some women had beautiful gowns, but the thing that shocked me was how casual some people were dressed, like…
…I saw a couple of people just wearing jeans and boots. I feel like attending the Grammy’s is the perfect excuse to get dolled up and go all out with your outfit.
After spending 3 hours watching the show with no food (we weren’t about paying those venue prices for food) we were starving and ended up going to Carl’s Jr.
…we rolled up to a fast food restaurant decked out in our fancy gear and sat down inside with everyone around us giving us strange looks.
We decided that since we were all dressed up and had the camera in the car what better way to end the evening than with a photoshoot at LACMA! It was so much fun posing in our Grammy attire. It made me feel like I was on a real photoshoot. Check out the pics we took below!
