July was full of great summer fun for me! From concerts and BBQs to day parties and a girls’ trip to Vegas, this month was very eventful! With all of this summer fun came the need for products that would be able to keep up with me. I’m sharing my monthly favorites for July.
Monthly Favorites for July
I discovered a lot of great products in July that are definitely staying on my favorites list for the rest of the summer.
Maybelline Lipstudio Color Blur Matte Lip Pencil in the shade Partners in Crimson
I initially saw Melisa of LoveMelisaMichelle review this lip pencil on her YouTube channel where she did a first impressions video of some of the different lip colors from this line and I knew I had to grab it! First of all…I’m a lipstick
First of all…I’m a lipstick
addict enthusiast so I love trying out new lip colors and products whenever I can. I love that the lip pencil is very pigmented; no need to apply several layers. The product is also very long-lasting, glides on smoothly, and isn’t drying on the lips. And since it’s in a retractable lip pencil packaging, it’s very easy to just throw this in your purse for touch ups when you’re out and about. I definitely want to go out and get more of the colors from this line.
I also posted a picture on Instagram if you’re interested in how this color looks on me (and why don’t you just hit that follow button while you’re there =] ).
CoverGirl The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara
I received this mascara as part of my July 2015 curlBOX, a monthly subscription service (see some of my other posts about curlBOX here and here). At first, I was a little confused to receive this in what’s supposed to be a natural hair subscription box, but this has been my go to mascara for the past couple of weeks. I really like how it elongates and separates my lashes. The only downside is that the bristles on the mascara wand aren’t very long so for someone clumsy like me it’s easier to poke myself in the eye (…maybe I’m the only one that has those issues).
L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in the shade Creme Cafe
I’ve been in the market for a drugstore matte foundation for the summer, now that I’ve gotten a littler darker from being out in the sun. Also, with the sun’s rays beaming down combined with my oily skin, I need something that will prevent me from looking like a grease ball at the end of the day. I wanted to try this foundation out for a while after seeing many of my favorite YouTube gurus rave about it so I finally went out to buy it. This product is matte, provides full coverage, and is long-lasting. It’s also nice to be able to find a shade that’s brown girl friendly and it photographs nicely. I really put this foundation to the test this summer. From workouts to Vegas to outdoor concerts, this product held up for me and I’m very impressed. Definitely my favorite liquid foundation right now.
I received a sample of this primer as part of my July 2015 ipsy Glam Bag (see some of my other posts about ipsy here and here). This was another product I really wanted to try because I heard a lot of good reviews on YouTube. I was especially excited because I have oily skin so I’m always looking for a good primer to wear under my makeup that will keep my oil under control. This product definitely held its own, even in these hot California summer days.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Eventone Suncare Moisturizing Sunscreen Balm
I received this product in my July 2015 curlBOX Body subscription box (I know, I know…I have a lot of subscriptions). With summer sun and fun also comes the need to make sure your skin is protected from the sun’s rays (yes, even those of us with darker skin tones). This sunscreen is great because it has an amazing cocoa butter scent (as opposed to the very distinct smell most sunscreens have), turns from a solid to oil (which gives your skin a nice sheen and glow), and it has no white residue.
This scrub also came in my curlBOX Body box. I’m a huge fan of SheaMoisture products and this scrub did not disappoint. It smells AMAZING and the oils in the scrub left my skin feeling smooth and moisturized.
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Smooth Conditioning Treatment
These 3 Minute conditioning treatments from Aussie are perfect for when you’re in a rush but want a quick deep clean. I received one of these a while ago from curlBOX and I currently have 3 on deck because I love them so much. This product leaves my hair moisturized and smooth and makes detangling a breeze.
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
This is another old favorite that I recently rediscovered, similar to the Aussie conditioner. This was one of the first products I tried when I started rocking my natural hair but I forgot about it until recently. A great product because it leaves my hair moisturized, especially during this summer heat. And, like pretty much all SheaMoisure products, it smells wonderful!
Summer fun is all about dancing and having a good time and that’s the common theme between my favorite songs from July.
679 by Fetty Wap feat. Remy Boys – I have really been loving Fetty Wap lately. From Trap Queen to My Way and 679, I’m loving everything he’s been putting out.
There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) by Jamie XX feat. Young Thug & Popcaan – This is the perfect summer anthem and I think it’s such an interesting collaboration. I’ve been seeing a lot more rappers teaming up with alternative pop artists lately and when it sounds like this, I’m not mad at it at all.
Good For You by Selena Gomez feat. A$AP Rocky – I heard this song for the first time right before I went on a girl’s trip to Vegas and I had it on repeat the entire trip. I can’t stop singing this song or playing it on repeat.
Ballers – I have been really enjoying Ballers on HBO. The show features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It is a scripted show that follows the personal lives of current and former professional football players. It includes both dramatic and hilarious moments throughout the show so I’m hooked.
Sons of Anarchy – Sons of Anarchy is a drama that follows an outlaw motorcycle club. I decided to start binge watching this show on Netflix. My coworkers were constantly talking about it when it was in its final season. I like binge-watching popular shows. I finally got around to putting this on my list and I’m currently on Season 3.
Well, those are my favorites from July. What were some of your favorites from last month? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments below!
