2016 is coming to an end and 2017 is right around the corner. What better to ring in the new year than with a fun New Year’s Eve makeup look. I’m sharing a tutorial on this glimmering gold look!
When I think of New Year’s Eve, I think of glitter, metallics, and confetti. I thought it would be fun to create a makeup look perfect for celebrating the start of a new year.
Glittering Gold Eye Tutorial
I started with a freshly washed and primed face. For my primer, I used NYX Shine Killer and Make Up For Ever Mattifying Primer.
To start the eye look, I primed my eyes with Jesse’s Girl Eye Shadow Primer. Then, I took MAC Kohl Eye Pencil in Orpheus and applied it all over my eyelid. After applying the eyeliner, I blended it in with a flat eyeshadow brush.
This black eye pencil with gold flecks will serve as a base for the gold eyeshadow that will be layered on top.
To warm up this eye look, I applied Madagascar and Kenya from The Nubian 2 Palette by Juvia’s Place. I applied both colors in my crease with a fluffy brush. The warm browns add warmth to the eye area so the look isn’t as harsh.
Time for gold! I applied the shade Irresistible from The Power of Makeup Palette by Too Faced and NikkieTutorials. I used a flat eyeshadow brush to really pack on the color but I first dampened the brush before applying the eyeshadow. This helps the color appear more vibrant.
To add more dimension to this look and add a smokey effect, I applied a black eyeshadow to the outer corner of my eye. Once applied, I used a clean eyeshadow brush to blend the look together.
That’s all for the eyes for now.
New Year’s Eve Makeup Look
I worked on completing the rest of my face before putting on the finishing touches for the eye look.
- L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation in Creme Cafe
- L’Oreal True Match Powder Foundation
- BellaPierre Banana Setting Powder
- Bite Beauty Multistick in Cocoa
- Tarteist Contour Palette
- NARS Blush
- Artist Couture Illuminating Powder
- Colourpop Brow Pencil
- Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in Black Friday
To finish off the eyes, I lined my upper lashes with Ciaté Fierce Flicks Eyeliner and created a small cat eye. Then, I lined the lower lash line with Colourpop Eyeliner Pencil. Next, I applied the L’Oreal Voluminous Feline mascara to my lashes.
To tie the look together, I added the gold and black eyeshadow to my lower lash line.
To ring in the new year, I’ll be wine tasting in Napa and spending time with friends in a house we rented. How are you celebrating New Year’s Eve? Do you like to go all out with your New Year’s Eve makeup? What do you think of the look?
